Reported first by Page Six and TMZ, Kevin Hart fractured his spine in three places and is currently “going through h*ll.” The 911 call obtained by the latter publication shows that Kevin was incoherent and immobile following the horrific car crash.

In Los Angeles, the Night School alum had to undergo a procedure this past Sunday night to fuse the fractures, two in the thoracic part of his spine and one in the lower back, also known as the lumbar spine. TMZ reports that while his surgery went well, Kevin is under heavy medication.

Typically, lumbar fractures can be particularly problematic, due to its importance to nearly all body movements. For instance, it makes walking a challenge and also leads to partial paralysis in some cases. Thankfully, Kevin is supposed to make a full recovery, but it’s going to take some work.

Initially, his team took Hart home rather than the hospital. An unidentified woman in the phone call said that Kevin wasn’t “coherent at all.” She said he wasn’t able to move, and while he was able to breathe, the injuries appeared to be to his back.

One passer-by who stopped at the scene of the crash in Malibu Hills said to the dispatchers that Kevin’s car had been completely destroyed. The 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, which Kevin bought for himself as a birthday present, was crushed.

“The roof is crushed, and the car is pretty totaled,” the man said to the publication, adding, “the door is smashed in.” The caller said to the dispatcher that Kevin was the driver, while the officials claimed it was his 28-year-old friend, Jared Black.

Black’s fiancée, Rebecca Broxterman, was in the back of the vehicle. Thus far, officials have claimed that alcohol and other substances were not a factor in the crash. The police are still investigating the incident. This isn’t the only unfortunate incident Kevin has experienced in the last year.

Previously, the Night School alum was slated to host the Academy Awards, however, after media journalists unearthed tweets from approximately ten years ago, Kevin was told he had to either apologize or step down. Kevin chose to step down instead.
